Wood adhesives

How to choose the right wood glue? If you glue wood with wood, ordinary carpentry adhesives from a DIY store are enough for you. If, on the other hand, you glue wood and related materials with other materials, the selection of the glue becomes more difficult. Below we present the most common combinations that occur when joining this material both at home and in production. In the case of our adhesives, the following are also identical: chipboards, mdf, osb, pliśniowa and derivatives. In fact, we do not have to wonder what exactly we have, because all versions combine these substrates. wood with metal - for small surfaces we use ATK EP 61 (the strongest version for such connections) or PU 1. For large surfaces of strips and supports, it is better to use PU 021 or ATK 812. foam, cork and rubber for wood - most often as soundproofing or upholstery we use U-800 or PU 021.concrete with wood - i.e. wall and floor materials also made of brick, painted, plasterboards are always combined with PU 021 (two-component, medium working time), apply to the entire surface or ATK 812 (one-component by 8-10 time for application) - the surface is always dust-free and primed. plastic+ wooden surfaces - the best for this type of gluing (especially with transparent plastics) is CC 10-12 or flexible PU CLEAR, and when we do not need a colorless joint - GB 10-10. The last most interesting connection (because there are few glues that will effectively connect) is glass with wooden surfaces, because with changes in temperature and humidity, the wood expands and the use of stiff glue can cause cracking of the weaker material. In this case, we use 3 adhesives: ATK UV 10 - but only for small materials; ATK PU CLEAR and we recommend starting tests on this adhesive, and if the color does not matter, ATK 812. Do you have anything to glue wooden stairs and steps? Such connections are always made with ATK PU 021 polyurethane adhesive on the entire surface, remembering that the substrate, if it is dusty, is primed. This version can be combined with concrete, brick, wooden and even metal supports. With a smaller gluing surface, you can use the faster version of ATK PU 16. What kind of gluing to skirting boards and MDF or wooden edges? There are actually 3 different connections here, that is: A skirting board like mdf+ mdf, i.e. small surfaces with each other, e.g. gluing corners and finishes - here we use ATK FIX 01 or 54 quick glue with activator C Floor strip to the wall - we use ATK 812 Regardless of whether you have a painted, concrete, brick or wooden wall, remember to prime the dusty surfaces. Finishes, edges and edges - for even surfaces fix 01/54 or fast polyurethane PU 16. Good bonding of polystyrene with wood - is it possible? Despite such different materials, there is no problem with connecting small and large elements. The most commonly used are ATK PU 021, which we apply to the entire surface and just 0.2-0.5 mm or ATK 812 for quick linear gluing, especially if the glue is to be more than 1 mm and we will immediately level and even out. What glue for veneers and veneers? You have a choice of either U-800 or ATK PU 021. The first one is used if two surfaces adhere exactly to each other, and the second one if there are high stresses, gaps or even you want to level the whole thing.
