Differences between gluing and welding or riveting and why it is worth using new technologies.

Adhesives are more and more often used to join all materials, they successfully replace other joining methods such as welding, riveting or screwing in many industries; There are many aspects to this. Let's just recall a few of them in relation to gluing:

Welding:

  • a properly trained person is needed
  • we only connect metals or the same materials
  • it is not possible to combine different materials, e.g. metal with composite
  • a suitable workplace and special safety conditions
  • in most cases, special surface preparation
  • the possibility of damaging the material, especially thin ones
  • the strength of the connection is the advantage of such connections

Riveting:

  • the need to drill holes, which is often associated with high costs
  • care should be taken to distribute the rivets evenly and adjust their number to the material being joined, as too much may weaken the element
  • possibility of combining different materials

Turning:

  • very limited scope of application
  • for some materials, it is necessary to use pre-drilled holes
  • possibility of joining various materials and, in most cases, the speed of making the connection

Due to the elimination of the above-mentioned disadvantages, glue joints successfully replace the above technologies, additionally gluing speeds up the work, which reduces the total costs. It is important to use appropriate adhesives for materials such as metals, plastics and composites, preferably those that are also very easy to apply and neutral for the person who uses them. The adhesives that are currently used in most cases are technologically obsolete, which means that you need to prepare the surfaces before gluing or have several or a dozen versions depending on what materials we use them for, which generates additional costs.

With ACRALOCK adhesives, these disadvantages have been eliminated and the bonding strength has been further increased. Our company is the exclusive distributor of Acralock adhesives in Poland, which are currently the most advanced methacrylic adhesives in the world; they combine versatility of use and ease of application. They are the only ones of this type that do not contain styrene, so that personal protection measures can be used for other purposes.
