What glue for the repair and production of PVC and PU curtains?

Instruction and Operation:

 

Gluing at fasteners / hangers - plates and hook slings

The glue allows the stresses to be spread over the entire surface of the curtain, and not only in the places of rivets or screws, which is why the curtains produced in this way are much more durable and do not break when hanging.

The glue is applied to the cleaned surface and the whole is riveted or screwed, depending on the production technology. We leave everything until the glue binds or we glue the material beforehand and only after initial or full setting we start riveting. We glue the slings to the curtains.

 

Tear Repair - Cracks

We have two options for such repair:

 

1.If we have excess material, you can stick with an overlap one material to another (used very rarely but worth mentioning)

 

2.we stick a patch of the same material and the same thickness so that the whole thing behaves like the native material in this place because if we stick:

 

- material too thin - there will be no such strength in this place because we are limited by the strength of the material itself

- material too thick - it may fall into different directions and there will be a tear just behind the patch.

 

A few tips:

 

When the pvc foil has additional coatings, a light sanding with 200-300 grit sandpaper may be needed (you can do a preliminary test on a redundant piece or in a less visible place by applying it to the surfaces)

We glue at positive temperatures above 15 ℃. If you want to glue in the lower ones, heat the repair area and the batten and keep the temperature for the first hour. e.g. with a farelka, heat gun or heater

 

Why are we not welding?

 

There are two reasons why we don't use heat sealing

1. We cannot weld because we connect with other materials, eg rubber, metal

2. The combination of different thicknesses of even the same material is a problem with overheating and the aesthetics of the connection

- atk pu clear - transparent and flexible joint

- atk 812 - white, black or gray very flexible

- gb 10-10 - hard elastic joint mainly in combination with rigid or semi-rigid materials such as metal, plastic or stiff rubber.
