Gluing aluminum with plexiglass with a 1mm gap

Customer requirement:

Aesthetic bonding, perfectly transparent

During the test, we considered adhesives:

 

 

• KEMISPOX N11,
• ATK PU CLEAR,
• ATK UV 10,
• ATK UV 16

 

The aesthetics of the connection was a priority. Of course, with the assumed strength, the element will not be subjected to very high loads, because these will be frames, e.g. between work stations, separating parts of rooms, etc.

The greatest forces are hitting the "glass" itself. The connection was also to be tight and resistant to water - in rooms such as bathrooms and toilets.

We chose 4 adhesives and analyzed the most aesthetic combination is ATK UV 16. The strength of each of the tested adhesives was much higher than actually needed, so now the aesthetics and the costs of the connection were what mattered.

How to glue aluminum and plexiglass? - the result of the test performed.

ATK PU CLEAR glue will be applied to the joint so that it does not flow out when pressed. Finally, we use ATK UV 16 for sealing.
