You have probably encountered a situation where you bought glue more than once, you did everything according to the instructions and the end result was poor. Read the information below and you may learn from past work yourself. Then watch the video in which we show all the situations with an overview.

The most common errors when we glue:

1. Too large gap - too large results in the adhesive not curing. This is a very common mistake that we often underestimate. Let's remember about the proper fitting of the surface. Typically, individual adhesives have a recommended gap. For example, ATK PU adhesives from 0.2mm to a few centimeters, Acralock SA 1-15 - from 0.1 to 5mm, and epoxy adhesives - even from 0.05mm.

2. Poorly prepared surface - a classic example in which even the best glue fails when our surface is not properly cleaned physically and chemically. Physically - i.e. all kinds of rust, dirt, which can be treated with a grinder or a scraper. Chemical cleaning usually involves the use of chemical agents such as acetone or alcohol. Do not use gasoline and denatured alcohol!

3. Incorrect mixing of the glue (components) - in most cases it happens during manual mixing. Adhesive mixed properly has the right consistency and color (according to the safety data sheet attached to your adhesive). We recommend the use of glue squeezers, if possible. In the case of adhesives in cartridges, this problem is eliminated by the use of special adhesive agitators that combine both components.

4. Incorrect pressure - when applying the adhesive and applying pressure, the so-called "springing of the surface. The pressure should depend on the thickness of the adhesive (see point 1). It should be until the adhesive sets. Only after full hardening, you can remove the previously installed clamps. Remember that it should not be too strong so that all the adhesive does not flow out. The exceptions are adhesives. cyanoacrylate, solvent-based and some epoxides. In the case of plastics, it is also worth pre-heating the surfaces so that they do not spring back.

5. Incorrect selection of glue for a given material - remember to make sure what you glue. Before buying glue, try to find the symbols assigned to the material. Do the necessary tests if you are unsure or if there are no signs. Remember that you can always consult us! :)

Note: The first 4 points will not be met unless we have the right glue. Remember there is no glue for everything. Always choose it for a given material and the place you use.
