Gluing banners and tarpaulins - which glue to choose?

Many of you are probably wondering why to use glue, since today there are many popular welding machines and devices (see Bosite-D).

If it is a small production or repair on a small scale, then it is definitely not profitable to buy a welding machine or automatic machine.

The ideal solution here is the ATK B170 banner and tarpaulin adhesive. As a standard, it can be purchased in 0.5 liter packages and this is the amount that will last for a really long time. For larger productions, we suggest 4.75 liters packaging.

 

Gluing banners is used when we do not want to or cannot use the welding machine for the reasons described below or we replace the technology of joining banners to tape.

 

The advantages of gluing over the use of tape:

• the glue is stronger (the tape is about sticking, not gluing)
• glue is more durable
• glue is cheaper (of good quality it costs about PLN 0.80 - PLN 1 per linear meter, ATK B170 glue is about PLN 0.30)
• the glue is just as easy to apply

 

Reasons for not welding:

• if there is too little material for welding and it is not profitable to buy a manual welding machine, let alone an automatic welding machine
• banner material does not allow welding (cheap, low-quality materials that are difficult to weld even with an automatic machine)
• the place of connection does not allow the use of the welding machine or there is too high risk of damaging the material (e.g. we stick the printed logo on the appropriate banner)

 

How to properly glue banners and similar materials

For this type of bonding, the long-proven ATK FIX and ATK B170 tandem adhesives are used.

 

ATK B170 - for large surfaces, i.e. gluing the banner to the banner, gluing the overlap under the eyelets, gluing the entire banner material, i.e. gluing the logo described above. We apply this glue on 2 surfaces with a spatula, roller or brush, but cut so that it is relatively stiff; the glue must be evenly distributed over the surface. Pressing with a roller can be done immediately or after waiting until it is dry and make a few banners in the meantime, then proceed to pressing and slightly heating (heating speeds up the entire process and increases the strength of the connection).

ATK FIX - for gluing small surfaces, such as gluing edges after gluing ATK B170 or welding, minor repairs in the field (no electricity needed, and gluing can take place even at low temperatures). It is a quick contact adhesive, it is enough to apply the glue to the surface in points or along the entire line and press it - it is important that the pressure is carried out gradually through the whole, i.e. like using a roller, in the case of pressing the entire surface immediately, the air would remain between the surfaces.
